Our policy is for you to have Fun on our site, learn better how to play poker, and play with your friends, old and new, in games you enjoy

This section will cover several policies and tips as they evolve. At the moment, it describes issues around internet connections between you and the PokerFunClub server.

For information on rules, money and protocol, visit Playing in the Help section of this site. For information on security, random shuffling, hackers and the like, visit Concerns in the Help section.

Connections Concerns:

Unlike real card rooms, online poker relies on a continuous internet connection - but as we know, breaks in service can and do occur.  Below is a summary of how PokerFunClub deals with these issues.

PokerFunClub Hosts and their role:

PokerFunClub has hosts online 24/7 to help make your time on the site as enjoyable as possible.  Details below!

Connection is lost at your end
Connection is lost at the server

In principle, this would be a case where the server and all other players are still connected and playing, but for one reason or another, your machine is no longer linked.

Causes:
This could occur if you're using a modem over a phone line, and someone else in your home disrupts the connection by picking up the phone; or if you're using a cable modem, and the circuit between you and the internet goes down; or even if your machine locks up or freezes. In the case of a high speed connection, it is possible that your ISP has briefly gone down, or another Internet Service Provider (ISP) you go through to get to us has gone down, which would affect your connection.

What you will see:
If your machine or software has frozen, animations may still continue, but no new action will take place. If, on the other hand, your connection is lost, your PokerFunClub software will keep trying to locate the main server. After about 20 seconds the scene will darken. If you were in a game and re-connect within a set time limit, you will be pulled directly back into your seat, and if there's still time, you'll be prompted to act.

What the server will do:
The server, in your absence, will make decisions based on your last known state. If you were in the middle of a hand, the system gives you some extra time to come back into the game. Once that time expires, you are treated as having gone all-in (unless you've gone all-in more than the allowable number of times, in which case your hand is folded).

This should never happen, but in principle it would be a case where all players remain connected to the internet, but for one reason or another, the poker server can no longer link to anyone.

Cause:
This could be due to a broken communications link between our server and the internet. We have taken extensive precautions to prevent this scenario, but 100% reliability is not possible. Of course, the server machine running the server software could also fail.

What you will see:
Your PokerFunClub software will warn you that the connection has become questionable, and after about 20 seconds the scene will darken and display a "trying to reconnect" message. If the connection to the server is restored, you will be logged back in automatically.

What the server will do:
If the server machine or software caused the server to go down unexpectedly, all player account information remains unchanged from the end of the last completed game transaction - i.e. if you were in the middle of a hand when the server was lost, nothing that took place during that hand will change your account (sometimes good news, sometimes not). If it was our server that went down, you will receive and email along the lines of "PokerFunClub server was shutdown". If you do not receive an email entitled the above, then our server has not gone down and it is an internet problem to which unfortunately there is little we can do about.
